Mission
The McFarland Youth Center is a community-based organization committed to supporting middle school aged youth, families and community by providing a safe recreational and educational environment. By incorporating adult-supervised, youth oriented activities, the McFarland Youth Center promotes positive relationships by building and fostering developmental assets.
History
Serving McFarland’s Middle School Youth Since 1998
Since 1998, the McFarland Youth Center has provided after-school and summer programming for 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade students in the McFarland community. We provide a variety of programs, including art, cooking, tutoring, leadership, and community service opportunities, in addition to recreational opportunities including air hockey, video games, computers, outdoor recreation, and more.

Shawn Close
Managing Director
Shawn Close is originally from and currently resides in the Madison area.
He graduated from Mankato St. University and was Associate Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County before working for the McFarland Youth Center.
In his spare time, Shawn likes to play sports, video games, board games and participate in Trivia Nights with his friends.
Winny Kiepe
Lead Assistant Director
Winny Kiepe grew up in Spokane Washington, moved to Seattle Washington, and now lives in Madison.
Winny has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Washington, and a Master’s in Education from UW-Madison.
For the past 5 years they have been working as a math teacher in Sun Prairie.
In their free time Winny enjoy playing video games and card games, sewing, listening to podcasts, solving puzzles, weightlifting, and playing rugby.
A Place to Grow
Center facilities
In August of 2012, the McFarland Youth Center relocated to our new facility, which formerly housed the Village Library and Grace & Truth Bible Church. We are conveniently located across the street from McFarland High School, and just blocks away from Indian Mound Middle School. The dedicated center facilities include an art studio, study room, video game lounge, dining area, full kitchen, computers, and table games.
